Oh Taylor. I was expecting great things from this album. You really had me fooled. I mean come on, judging by your previous work, no one could blame me for thinking this album was going to produce lots of great things. But what did we get? Lots and lots of whiny, teenage girl problem rubbish that no one over the age of twenty wants to hear anymore.
I respect Taylor Swift for her song writing abilities. Her previous albums contained songs that were well written, they all had their own style of music and lyrics and most of all, they were unique. Songs such as
Red, Last Kiss, Dear John, Back to December even Love Story! This new album,
1989, contains songs which have no real individuality to them. If you listen to them, they all have the same style chorus, repeating a certain line multiple times – it’s true, I dare you to have a listen to Out Of the Woods, Welcome to New York etc.
THEY ARE ALL THE SAME. I swear she just kept the same music but jumbled the words around a bit.
With fellow singer
Lorde being her new BFF, I feel she took a lot of influence from her. The song
Blank Space, feels very Lorde-esque, especially the beginning with it's slow, spaced out lyrics which to me, felt like it could've been taken straight off the teenagers own album.
I know it’s difficult to switch genres of music, moving from
country to pop, but in my opinion she should have stayed with country. I hate to give such a bad review because I am a fan of hers. I just feel she is losing those fans who, like me, supported her from the start because she isn't aiming her music at her own age group any more.
I really feel she will lose a lot of older fans who enjoyed her previous style because of this tween pop thing she’s trying to do.
Taylor – go back to your roots, fans will thank you for it, especially me
