In the two days since its release it has already topped the iTunes Charts, and one can only assume this album is already shaping up to be another big hit for the 24 year old singer-songwriter.
The song was co-written by Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff, who previously worked together on co-writing another song released by Swift, “Sweeter than fiction”.
“Out of the woods”, like many from Swifts collection, is based on a past relationship. Speculation is rife as to who it is based on. Swift has never been one to name names when it comes to past relationships, but many assume it to be her famous boyband ex, Harry Styles.
Needless to say she conveys her emotions perfectly as to how she felt in this past relationship through the power of music.
The song itself is quite simple, but the message is clear. She expresses the emotions she felt of being in a relationship where she did not know where it was heading, whether they had made it past the initial early stages and whether it would last. We feel her naivety but also the hopelessness from Swift.
Overall, it is a catchy, well-written tune and is sure to appeal to anyone that has ever felt trapped from these type of emotions from a relationship.
All I can say is judging from the release of "Shake it off" and "Out of the woods", this is going to be a great album and it will be interesting to see how her style develops from her country roots to a pop style.
1989 is scheduled to be released on October 27th, 2014.
